You have probably seen clogging on America's Got Talent and Down South. The 8th Count Dance Center is proud to be a clogging-based studio and home of the clogging performance group, the Walnut Hill Cloggers. The group was originally started by Barbara Coury in the 1980's and was turned over to one of its first young members, Shanelle Waggoner in 2006. Since the start of the group approximately 35+ years ago, Walnut Hill has competed and performed all over the Eastern U.S.! The group has a blast currently performing all over Northeast Ohio and attending workshops! The instructor of the group is Katie Koehnle, a long time team member and clogging instructor at national clogging workshops in New York and Ohio. Be sure to catch one of our performances soon!
Clogging is a folk dance that can be modified for any genre of music. Traditionally clogging is done to country music but has modernized quite a bit using any music that has a beat! You can see our event schedule for upcoming performances and workshops. If you think clogging is something you would like to try, give us a call!
